Background

Hey there ! I’m Mehdi, I’m the Product and Ops guy at Sqwad.

I was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco.

I did my undergrad in Paris at Ecole Centrale followed by a Master’s in the US at UC Berkeley 🌉 majoring in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research.

After college, I worked in San Francisco for a Fintech marketplace called Prosper, building their fraud and credit risk machine learning models to provide consumers with access to new personal financing vehicles. 2 years later, I moved to New York City 🗽 to join Criteo’s new product innovation team to build and scale cookieless 🍪 digital marketing products and help brands keep growing on the internet.

Today, I’m partnering with Anis & Mohcine to build the future of commerce.

Being involved in embarrassing stories.

First time ever renting an Airbnb with a group of 20 college friends. We booked a big house in Sequoia National Park, California for Thanksgiving 2014. When we arrived at our destination address, we had no service on our phone.

The house looked a bit different and no one welcomed us. The door was just open. In the country of self-service it did not seem that shocking at first. We started settling in the house and put the turkey in the oven for our thanksgiving meal.

One of the cars didn’t arrive yet though. When we finally recovered service, we called our missing friends. They were wondering where we were because they were in the house and were waiting for us to arrive. So, we were both in the house but could not see each other.

We then realised (after a few hours...) that we were in the wrong house and that we needed to get the turkey out of the oven and leave the house we just trespassed in...
